Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen.

June 26th I will be hosting a small frigate FFA. 1.000 fitted frigates are sitting in two poses in Yria, just waiting to die in glorious flames.

Event Details:

Location: Yria

Date and Time: June 27th, Friday, 20:00 Evetime

Duration: 2 hours, unless we manage to destroy all the ships before that.

How:

  1. Join the purple fleet.

  2. Dock up in a station in Yria.

  3. Read the fleet MOTD. It will mention the names of two of my alts functioning as warp-ins to the poses. Add the one for your corp to your watchlist.

  4. Undock in your pod and warp to the alt you just added to to your watchlist.

  5. When you come out of warp, you should be inside the pos forcefield close to four Ship Maintenace Arrays. Their name should give you a hint to what ship type is inside.

  6. Right click on the Ship Maintenace Array with the ship type you want and select ”Access Vessels”. A window with all the ships inside the array should open.

  7. Right click on one of the ships and select ”Board Ship”

  8. Go fight at the Kulelen gate.

  9. When your ship has gone down in wonderful flames go back to 4.

Rules:

  • Do not bring your own ship. Fitted ships are provided for free.

  • Do not change how the ships are fitted.

  • People are free to engage other pilots at will. It's a free for all event, so Blue shooting Blue and Red shooting Red are OK.

Info about the fits:

  • The following hulls will be available: Atrons, Condors, Executioners and Slashers.

  • Each hull type have 5 different fits.

  • All fits have very low skill requirements. Everyone should be able to fly these babies, as long as they can fly the ship hull and able to use use the small short-range weapon system normally used on the hull.

  • All fits are brawl fits: Afterburnes for propmod and shortrange weapons. Kiting or sniping is not possible with these fits.

Hope to see you there for a couple of hours of fun.

#148815 [Live NOW] Free Frigate Summer

Posted by Zakhs on 17 April 2015 - 06:47 PM

A few stats:

  • In 24 hours a total of 2103 ships has been destroyed. Blue wins with 1094 ships destroyed, while Red only manged to get 1009 ships killed.
  • Most popular ship is the Tristan with 615 hulls destroyed (Blue: 347 / Red: 268), followed by the Kestrel with 522 destroyed (Blue: 289 / Red: 233). On the third place we find the once so mighty rifter with only 178 hulls destroyed (Blue: 39 / Red: 139).
  • Least popular is the Griffin with only 12 hulls destroyed. The other electronic attack frigates are only slightly more popular, Vigils: 20 destroyed, Crucifier: 30 destroyed and Maulus: 48 destroyed.
  • Blue has 20.142 ships left. red has 20.227 ships left.

All numbers assume that ships taken out of the poses has been destroyed.

#138909 Gunboat Mayhem, Mk I & II: two destroyer FFAs

Posted by Zakhs on 15 November 2014 - 01:21 PM

fGiVoDz.png

Greetings fellow internet spaceship pilots. I'm going to run two Free For Alls events with destroyers (and some frigates for the Mk II version). All ships will be fitted and provided for free.

What:

800 fitted destroyers (Catalysts, Coercers, Cormorants and Thrashers) will be available at two poses in Poinen. All are buffertanked and fitted with afterburners, scrams and shortrange guns.

The Mk II version will also feature a few hundred attack frigates.

When:

The Mk. I version will start at 10:00 evetime on Friday November 28th.

The Mk II version will start at 21:00 evetime on Sunday November 30th.

Both events will end when we run out of ships.

Where:

The ships are provided at two poses in Poinen, one for Red and one for Blue. Main fight will be at Nomaa gate in Poinen.

How:

  1. Be in Poinen.
  2. Join the purple fleet named Gunboat Mayhem. I will start it 15 mins before the event begins.
  3. Undock in your pod.
  4. In the MOTD, there will be a person functioning as a warp-in to the pos for your corp. Warp to him.
  5. You should land inside the pos forcefield, close to two Ship Maintenace Arrays named Mayhem I & II.
  6. Right click on one of the Ship Maintenace Arrays and select "Access Vessels". It should open a window with all the ships available in the Array.
  7. Right click on one of the ships and select "Board Ship".
  8. Go fight. When you die go back to 4.

Things to note:

  • This is a Free For All event. It means that you can (and are supposed to) also shoot members of your own corp.
  • All destroyers are fit with a buffer tank, afterburner, scram and shortrange guns. I tried to balance DPS to Tank ratio while also considering their speed and range of their guns.
  • The Mk II version will also have a few hundred attack frigates available. The Condors and Executioners are fitted with a tracking disruptor. They are supposed to use their speed advantage to stay just outside range of the destroyer's guns but within scram range while slowly wearing the tank of the destroyers down.
  • The Atrons and the Slashers will have a web fitted. With autocannons and blasters fitted they will be able to out DPS the Executioners and The Condors by a fair margin. But if they come within the range of the destroyers they will melt away very fast.
  • All fits have very low skill requirements, but for the frigates to work as intended you will need some decent skills.
  • If you are are very low SP player and find that you repeatedly gets ganked by higher SP players, you can use the "RvB NoobFleet" channel to setup your own small fight arena with other low sp players.
  • If you prefer 1v1s, use the "RvB Fight Club" channel to find likeminded players to fight.
  • Don't bring your own fits or change the fits. This includes changing the types of ammo provided. All ships have enough ammo for 10 mins of continuous fire. If you stay alive for more than this, you are doing it wrong.
  • You are allowed to dock up and rep modules and your ship.
  • You are allowed to warp out of a fight to stay alive. All ships has a scram fitted. Use it to prevent your target from warping out.
  • Implants: You don't need them. I've tried to balance the fits as much as possible. Running in Pirate sets or Genos would ruin the balance and make the event less fun for everyone else.

Hope to see you there!!!

#126081 2K Mass FFA II

Posted by Zakhs on 23 June 2014 - 07:56 PM

I have thought of doing a 1v1 event with free ships, but first I'm planning to run another standard mass FFA sometime in July. Probably Friday 25th. This one will be with Combat frigates, though.

Then I would like to try to run a pure 1v1 event. I'm going to try to program a matchmaker. It will be running on a small webserver I'm running at home. The matchmaker will be accessed with the IGB. It will work like this:

  1. Grab a ship at the pos.
  2. Hit the "Ready for Combat" button on the webpage in the IGB.
  3. The matchmaker will pair you with another pilot, and tell you to warp km to a moon @ 0 Km in Poinen.
  4. Fight the other pilot.
  5. When the fight is over, you will tell the matchmaker of the outcome of the match.
  6. Goto 1.

The matchmaker will rate all pilots based of their performance. When it creates matches it will try to make it more likely that matches are between pilots of equal rating, hopefully making matches more fun for everybody.

I will do a more detailed post, when I have worked out the rating (ELO??) and matchmaking algorithms. I hope to have everything ready to run this event sometime in September.

#123964 2K Mass FFA II

Posted by Zakhs on 01 June 2014 - 03:57 PM

2K Mass FFA II.

The last one turned out rather well, so I'm going to run another one of these events.
Only difference is that I've added a Metastasis Adjuster rig to all the Executioners and I had to downgrade some of the modules from meta 1-3 to meta 0 because Jita sucks. I don't think it affects the skills needed, but I will check it in EFT and make a post with the skills needed to be able  to fly all fits later.

What: 500 Atrons, 500 Condors, 500 Executioners and 500 Slashers fitted and provided for free. Because it's a FFA you are allowed to (and should)  shot members of  your own corp.

When: Friday, June 6. - 9:00 Eve time. I will start a purple fleet at 8:45. Event ends when all 2.000 ships have been destroyed. If we haven't destroyed all ships before DT, we will continue when the  server comes back to life.

Where: Poinen

How:
Join the purple fleet and move to Poinen.
If you  are in Red Fed add Dennis Merryman to your watchlist. If you are in Blue Rep add Gary Merryman to your watchlist
At 9:00 undock in your pod and warp to the guy you added to your watchlist, you should land inside a pos, close to two ship maintenace arrays named Quickie 1 and Quickie 2.
Rightclick on one of the ship maintenace arrays, choose access ships, rightclick on a ship inside the array and choose "Board Ship"
Go brawl a Jos gate in Poinen.
When you die, grab a new ship from the pos. Keep doing this until all ships have been destroyed.

Don't:
Bring your own fits or change how the ships are fitted.

Note on the fits:
All fitted modules are T1 meta 0 or cheap meta 1-3. All ships has been fitted with AB's and shortranged versions of the weapon suited for the shiptype, ie. Blasters on Atrons, rockets on Condors and so on.
All shiptypes and fits are evenly distributed between the two poses and arrays.

Hope to see you there.

Thank you guys for showing up. Getting 100+ people to participate were really great!!!

The pos setup seemed to work perfectly. We will use this to run future mass FFAs and Detonation Boulevard Events.

I will try to run some more events like this. I will keep the "in your face brawl and no MWDs" theme. I just need to find some better fits for the Executioners.

Things to note:

The purpose of this event (besides having a couple of hours of fun) is to test the pos setup for future RvB events. I hope there won't be any problems when many people are trying to take ships from the arrays at the same time.

All fitted modules are T1 or cheap meta versions. All ships has been fitted with AB's and shortranged versions of the weapon suited for the shiptype, ie. Blasters on Atrons, rockets on Condors and so on.

All shiptypes and fits are evenly distributed between the two poses and arrays.

#104054 Thanks for all the FFA Fish

Posted by Zakhs on 07 November 2013 - 12:01 PM

I would also like to thank everyone who made this happen, especially all the Orca pilots. We probably spent close to 400 hours i Orcas to haul the ships to the pos.

Also thanks to Del, professor Clio and Random McNally for helping me launch ships from the pos.

A special thank goes to Northern Misfit. I can't imagine how many hours you spent on this. Answering mails, contracting ships and mods to the fitters and just organizing it all. On top of all that you got up in the middle of night, so we could start the event in the EU TZ. And through all this you were always helpful and postive when I spoke to you. You are one the the persons that makes RvB standout as the best community in Eve.

For me there were several highlights during the event: lots of fun fits, people welping shinys and tons of gf's. But there are two episodes I will always remember: when Samuel Vokan made us help a mission runners do a lvl 3 and the day after a lvl 4 mission in Bantams. It was simply epic.

And just a few corrections to Del's and Northern's post: Jack Sixx also had two Orca pilots in the pos corp.

The pos corp is not my indy corp, it's a corp created when we moved the FFAs to Poinen. The corp is created with the sole purpose of handling RvB events. My own indy corp is located in Liekuri.

And finally, I only spent around 25 hours on sorting out the ships in the smas. I did spend more than 100 hours on hauling ships and accepting contracts and organizing the hauling, but it was worth every single second.

I will get you the arrays you need.  Do we need more POSes as well?  I can provide those as well as the Moons.....

Del

I do not doubt you can  :D , but because of the recent pos changes, we should actually be able to run it out of just one pos.

Posted by Zakhs on 31 July 2013 - 10:42 PM

If people don't mind, I would like to set thursday October 24th as a deadline for submitting ships. I need at least a day to sort out the ships between the ship maintenace arrays.

I hope I will be able to handling most of the orca hauling to begin with, but late september and october it would be great if 4 or 5 persons with orca alts could help me move the ships to the pos. It will take almost 6000 trips in orcas to move all the ships from the station to the pos.

Btw: does anyone have 100 ship maintenace arrays I can borrow for a couple of months
