Geeeez I log onto the forums after some time and read this...Can confirm that Eve is won by not playing. It was fun flying with you Mang. Thank you for the many laughs, tears, ragequits, and kills that we have had over the years.

I can count the people who have made RvB what it is on one hand. You are one of those people Mang. All the best with whatever RL brings and see you on the Steam group ;)!

#149473 The end of an era!

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 02 May 2015 - 07:56 AM

Well, it's been fun. A lot of fun to be honest! However, I've decided to let my Eve subscriptions run out for the first time in 3+ years. Tele's just ran out today, and my other two accounts will as the month goes along. Been super busy with work, and life in general to be able to play much Eve anyway, and I've been spending more and more of the little time I have to game on other games (mostly non-mmo). Thanks for all the fun times in RvB! Tele and Serenity will probably just live in RvB in case I ever decide to come back and play Eve. I may check the forums from time to time to catch up on what you guys are up to.

As for my stuff, no one can have it because that would require me to resub :P.

Thanking each and every person would require a long post, so please accept my combined thank you to everyone who made my time playing Eve over 3+ years extremely memorable. You know who you are.

A better pilot, you will become, when overcome, the fear of ship losing - Eve Yoda

Also,

Do, or do not. There is no try. - Real Yoda

Undocking and suddenly dying and then trying to figure out wtf just happened will also help. If someone doe manage to kill you, ask them what happened. More often than not, more experienced pilots will impart some knowledge about that encounter. Don't be afraid to take a fight. It's only a videogame.

#147804 Tell me about your first FCing experience

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 29 March 2015 - 09:59 PM

I was in a Merlin, it was a Battleship down fight. Jagtor may have whelped a shiny, I forget if it was this fight that he whelped the Bhaalgorn. This was before reimbursement events. Several billions of isk were destroyed at the Poinen gate in Jos. Uclan made me do it. I forget who the opposing FC was, but they did their best not to have the fleet shoot my little Merlin, which was the only thing I could fly T2 at that point. I lived for a long long time, and called targets.

I was reluctant because I thought that people would make fun of me if I whelped the fleet and they would hate me if I got their ships blown up. People still make fun of me for other things now, but I care much less about whether or not your ship lives these days.

For new people, FCing honestly makes you a much better pilot because it makes you more situationally and tactically aware about what's going on on grid, so everyone should do it if they want to improve as a pilot in Eve. Knowing how to FC means that you also learn to predict what opposing FCs/Fleets will do against you if you are flying solo or as part of a fleet. Knowing/predicting what the opposing FC is going to do with his/her fleet collectively will help you keep your ship alive even if you are not FCing your fleet. GTFOing/burning away right before you are called primary is always fun.

If someone is just stepping up, it's nice when there is someone who can back up FC/target call on your first few times though, and I think I had a lot of people ready to back up FC if I went down when I started, which removed a lot of the pressure. This doesn't have to be an institutionalized thing, just something that's nice to have. So for any of you people that FC regularly, always try and get other people to do it when you are FCing, even if that means you lose out on the "FC LP points". More FCs = less FCing you have to do, and more fights to be had.

My advice, just do it! It's only space pixels and funny money. Worst thing that can happen is that everyone undocks and get their ships blown up.

As for how it mades me FEEEEEEEEEEL, it felt great in the pants. Iunno, I don't like talking about my feelings Yng :P!

There are some seriously high end desktops you can build for that budget though fyi.

#145856 Frigatus - 0.00 UTC 28/2 - 11.00 UTC 2/3

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 28 February 2015 - 06:24 AM

I played for a couple of hours. my feedback would be don't do all Frigs again. It is quite trouncing on people who can't fly T2, pirate or faction ships. Keep it all T1 Frigates, no pirate, no faction, no T2.

Speaking from personal experience, I flew a Slicer (surprise!) solo and had a VERY easy time flying around and shooting things in T1, faction, and pirate frigates. The only things that I had trouble with were T2 frigates because of the resists. I disengaged very easily from those. If it was a regular Frigatus, I'd probably fly a Condor, and would have a MUCH harder time actually killing anything with my play style because of the anemic dps. The only valid targets for my condor would be Atrons, Executioners, Slashers, other Condors, maybe Tristans, and other Ewar frigs. Most of the tankier frigates would easily tank the damage from a Condor.

While I understand that it is rarely fair in Eve, in terms of new players versus old, skilled/veteran pilots versus new, at least by keeping Frigatus as only T1 forced even those veteran pilots to fit and fly within the limits of T1 frigates. T1 Frigates have an upper limit for performance that are quite similar to each other. So, again speaking from personal experience, a Frigatus fleet of 10 T1 frigates would have a much easier time engaging or disengaging from a Condor than a mismatched Frigatus fleet of T1 T2 Pirate and Faction frigates would have against a Slicer. The Slicer would just fly around, kill some T1 frigates, maybe another faction frigate, and then run away.

I am not sure how the other pilots who flew T2, Faction, or Pirate frigates felt/feel this weekend. This is early feedback mind you, because I won't have much time to play much for the rest of the weekend. I had fun, but not sure how the T1 Frigate pilots felt. Let the event run its course, but hopefully adjust/balance in the future.

#144322 The Confessor

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 10 February 2015 - 07:35 AM

Mang, for Ganked.

Cost ~160mil per Confessor. Carry IN Multi, Standard, and Aurora

[Confessor, Test - Ganked]
Internal Force Field Array I
200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Heat Sink II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Small Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 400
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script

Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S
[empty high slot]
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Aurora S

Small Trimark Armor Pump II
Small Trimark Armor Pump II
Small Trimark Armor Pump II

Defensive Mode

16k EHP, sig 40m

175 dps @ 30km with Aurora

201 dps @ 17km with IN Standard

302 dps @ 8.3km with IN Multi

Speed 1401m/s (no implants, max skills) COLD, 1947m/s HOT

Sharpshooter Mode

12k EHP, sig 60m

Speed 1401m/s (no implants, max skills) COLD, 1947m/s HOT

175 dps @ 50km with Aurora

201 dps @ 28km with IN Standard

302 dps @ 14km with IN Multi

Propulsion Mode

12k EHP, 60 sig

Speed 2334m/s (no implants, max skills) COLD, 3243m/s HOT

Same dps and gun ranges as defensive mode

Support with Navitas, Inquisitors with MWDs for logi, and Crucifiers and Maulus with MWD for Ewar. Inty Tackle.

Point is constant movement with transversal up, anchored on the FC (think Talwar fleet). Can keep engagement at 40-50km, or use the extra speed to move in and get under guns of say a Harpy fleet (small rails might track), or a Tengu fleet. I can see you sig tanking Sentries too. Would avoid getting in neut range (stay 30+). Large weapons should miss this fleet for the most part, and Heavy Missiles can be kited or sig tanked. Use propulsion mode and spiralling on the approach to anything. Spread ewar.

VERY tight fit. Need Max fitting skills, or you can use a T2 Micro Auxiliary Power Core because there is some CPU left.

Give pilots enough warning to train T2 small lasers (5 days?), cause Aurora is a must.

Disclaimer: Not combat tested! Tell me how Ganked goes in case I don't make it :P

#143391 Del Delvechio

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 23 January 2015 - 09:23 PM

I remember talking to Del last year and he said he just wanted to give RvB away after all these years so he could just go back to shooting things and having fun in game. I'm glad you finally did it Del.

For anyone who is unaware, under Del's leadership, RvB has created a POCO empire, dunked the Euni POS, fought BNI, created reimbursement events like BLT and the BC/cruiser royales, and created isk making opportunities for our pilots with A3. A lot of that, including BLT, started off being funded from Del's wallet. There is a thread in the directors forums called "The Central Bank" and that was Del. Thanks for dealing with all of us scrubs and funding our crazy addiction for the past several years Del. Also, thank you for moving RvB in the right direction, when some of us, including myself, balked at certain ideas that have definitely added to the evolution of RvB. Your consistent dedication over the past few years to maintaining and growing RvB is greatly appreciated.

Please undock more now so I can shoot your Merlins, Drakes, and Ravens with my new toy :). Thank you for everything dude!

#142002 Dual xlasb tengu with high grade crystals and missile implants

Posted by Telemachus Rheade on 25 December 2014 - 06:19 AM

For what purpose? A Cyclone can do what that thing can do IMO? Cerb can kite with HAMs, or snipe with RLMs. Orthrus if you are intent on pvping and using missiles. Anything you want to "tank" will probably be something that you don't really want to fight.

Nice loot pinata though.
