#74138 Contracts Issued to Corp Below Market Value

Posted by Osborn Ready on 24 March 2013 - 11:35 PM

FYI: I have issued a couple dozen contracts to corp for hulls that are rigged. The prices are below market value for the hulls by themselves, so the rigs are freebies. If you really wanted you could literally repackage the ship (obviously destroying the rigs) and sell the hulls at market value for a profit. I chose not to do that so RVBers can decide for themselves.

#74137 Getting Back in the Game

If you must know I did not know there was any difference in buying from one site or another, just that some sites were more competitive because they have a thousand Chinese workers that work for 10ยข and hour. CCP didn't give me a warning of any kind, they just stole the money from my account. And, hilariously, when CCP decided to steal from me they whined about exploits. Awwww, poor downtrodden CCP. How I weep at the thought of the horrors and injustices they've had to endure. Oh the inhumanity! [barf]

CCP develops software. If they can't fix exploits in their own software they should hire better devs. As a software developer myself, their behavior tells me they are pretty good at developing software, but great at making excuses. I feel no pity for them whatsoever. nor do I believe for one second they give a hoot about ISK sellers. It's just free money in their pocket and that is all they care about. I don't blame them any more than I blame a serpent for sinking poisoned fangs in their prey. It is what corporations do and in fact they have a legal obligation to their shareholders to screw every dime out of every customer they possibly can. It is called maximizing profits, and corporations have a legal obligation to maximize profits. Corporations who do not maximize profits are liable for damages to their shareholders. In other words, by definition, they will, if they can, screw you out of your money at every opportunity. There is nothing wrong with extolling the virtues of Eve far and wide. It's a great game. But if someone is defending CCP's policies they are either an employee or a fanboi.

And while I'm on the subject of CCP - correct me if I'm wrong - but didn't they lay off something like 1/3 of their staff a couple years ago? The company I have worked for these past 12 years has NEVER laid off an employee. We don't overextend, the customer comes first, we do everything we can to make sure our employees' families have food on the table (even to the point of taking money out of C-level bonuses). The CEO of CCP is not only arrogant (his words not mine), but he led a couple hundred people down the path of unemployment. It has taken them many years to relent on even a fraction of their hard-nosed attitude of 'if you don't like it go play somewhere else' (which fanbois encourage), rather than putting their customers first. I hear this BS about how their customer base is growing year after year, but after 10 years I log in to see 30K people online everyday. I joined in 2008, and I haven't noticed any kind of significant difference. Out of thousands of systems there are only a couple places you can get fights on any kind of regular basis. I'm pretty sure most of the growth are bots and alts, but perhaps they'll correct their crappy attitude and, in another 10 or 20 years, they will have made enough progress to enable me to look at them as more than just a greedy corporation led by an arrogant and inept C team.

On the other hand fraud of any kind or hacking someone's account is both unacceptable and CCP most certainly should ban them and in fact prosecute anyone who does that. In fact someone hacked into an account to give me ISK and not only did I help CCP catch them I got the seller banned from PayPal (which is a heck of a lot more than most people would do, but I felt it was the honorable thing to do). So unless someone has gone to those lengths to help correct a mistake that wasn't even really their fault all they're doing is spewing words for their own gratification aren't they? I took action (and prevailed), so am I going to have a difficult time respecting people who preach and insult people on the forums but don't have the balls to back it up. How many of CCP's fanbois have helped CCP take down a hacker? And I'm supposed to listen to their blathering about right and wrong, their constant finger pointing and trolling with any kind of respect/ I think not.

But stopping exploits, fraud, and hacking isn't CCP's goal, it is about the money in CCP's pocket, otherwise they actually WOULD be prosecuting people who commit credit card fraud wouldn't they?

CCP is a corporation that is after our money. Defending them for screwing their clients is not admirable, moral, ethical, or honorable. They force their customers to sign a contract of adherence (look it up). Many judges have refused to enforce contracts of adherence because only one party has all the bargaining power. That is the reason survivability clauses are boiler plate in contracts. The laws enforcing contracts were not created to facilitate unequal bargaining. If you'd like to take it up with the courts and prove my judgement of CCP wrong, I applaud you, but otherwise all you're really doing is defending a greedy corp that knows full well the only reason they don't end up as the defendant in court is because they can screw individuals who do not have the resources to hire expensive attorneys.

CCP makes customers pay them money for their services. It is not anyone's friend. CCP wants our money and will screw us to get it. Nobody playing Eve is too dumb to grasp that, I think people just get sucked in and now the mental/time investment brainwashed them into fanbois. I don't blame fanbois, but their words come from from emotion, not logic, so it's nothing more than meaningless prattle.

They suspended my account and I could accept that. But then they stole money from me. Punishment for breaking the rules? HAHAHA!!! They wanted the money - that's it. They are nothing more than thieves. And as cunning as they are at extracting money from their customers I'll certainly never be a fanboi of people like that.

I have given a detailed response out of respect to RVBers on this forum. If people don't agree with me then they are of course entitled to their opinion and we shall just have to agree to differ. But there is nothing else to say on the matter so I hope we can kill this thread now :)

#72656 Getting Back in the Game

I am selling a somewhat-researched Maelstrom BPO (ML 13 PL 24) for 1.1B ISK.

Why? I have a negative ISK balance a little over 1B. You cannot contract or trade, insure your ship, run research jobs, etc. with a negative ISK balance, so in order to get back to a positive balance I need someone to donate the money and then I can trade for the BPO for 0.00 isk at BHQ (I'm not transporting it anywhere).

This is no scam, I just want to GTFO of debt. I don't care about the money, I just can't get shit done with a negative balance.

I have other stuff like implants and shineys but the BPO is a single item so it makes it a lot easier.

I'm not any kind of great video editor so some of the effects might look amaturish. It looks much better in full screen. You can watch it in 1080 but YT default to 360 which makes it hard to see a lot of the details.
