#164289 Hello from New RVBer

Posted by Abysus on 02 June 2017 - 07:54 PM

There's Osmium where you can find fits.

You can also combine searches on zkillboard to find fits..

eg: all Moa losses from Pandemic Legion

https://zkillboard.c...6292982/losses/

Orthrus, Gilas and Phantasms are great but expensive ships, so depending where you fly them many opponents will (try to) primary you.

I'd highly suggest to learn the basics of T1 cruisers (move on to Navy cruisers after) and watch videos before jumping into combat with pirate cruisers..

eg:  when flying the Orthrus, you need to know how to kite properly (start with a fast and cheap Caracal, followed by the Scythe Fleet issue)

#163744 Need some tips to get started with pvp

Posted by Abysus on 20 February 2017 - 08:10 PM

Next to Nikolai's suggestions, you can also try a dual web/armor Kestrel.  Slower and less EHP, but much more range control, plus surprise factor.

Suitonia is a famous Kestrel pilot: https://www.youtube....veiseasy/videos

Best idea is indeed Nikolai's: ask a 1vs1 in chat, fight to structure only.

PM me in game for that.

#163631 Well done Team RvB in the EveNT tournament

Posted by Abysus on 22 January 2017 - 09:59 AM

A big thanks to all my team members.

Things didn't start out well with the banning tool (we had to do it twice), and when they banned the Typhoon & Rokh I should have switched to our armor comp (I didn't).

When they finally banned the Tempest my heart sank.

Mistakes were made (we got split up too much and didn't know), but we had good fun, especially during the practice rounds.

And as Vision said, we got our name out.

Maybe Nikolai can still push my idea of the "lower league" with the EVE NT Cup folks, as single elimination is very brutal.

Got plenty of suggestions and volunteers willing to help out. That way the teams who lost can still build some experience (and maybe even promote to the minor league).

#159839 Will Soon Join

Posted by Abysus on 17 May 2016 - 06:29 PM

I agree with nitro.

As an FC (bit inactive lately but still..) I notice my fleets usually lack fast & short range tacklers (that means scram fits like Slashers & Atrons), or heavy short range tacklers like the Punisher.

#158652 Rejoining old friends

Posted by Abysus on 11 March 2016 - 07:50 PM

Hey all,

Looking forward to seeing you all in fleets.

Wow mate, this is really good news.

For folks who don't know Severity, he's an awesome FC, and the one who pushed me into FC'ing myself.

I still remember my first time as FC in Red, my fleet didn't lose a single ship during a frigate only fight, haha OP success! (it went downhill after that)

#157099 Mothership Monday 7 December

Posted by Abysus on 08 December 2015 - 11:23 AM

First, event was helluva lotta fun; even with the rocky start.  Major Kudos to Nikolai Mazinkov for organizing and herding both teams as referee.

Issues:

Round I FC's didn't show on time, probably due to the start date roll back; nothing much could have been done.  Cheers to Mr. Hewlett for being willing to start early and jagtor for jumping in to fill a slot for round II.

Broken grid at start point.  Again not much that could be done for this one; moving to planet six for the consecutive rounds fixed it.  If my limited memory of grid-fu can stretch, that shouldn't be a problem for future sessions as a downtime will reset it, and grids are expanding tomorrow anyway :P

Referee was shot a few times in that last round, might look into some way to distinguish them more; but needs some thought.  Otherwise just make sure FC's yell repeatedly not to do it...

What Worked:

Balancing teams was a good call, lets keep this thing.

FC's checked with each other on allowing logi before their round (I assume round three did?), this was good and should be encouraged.

Sudden death:  This was very much needed in that third fight, keep it.

Both FC's in round III came with actual plans beyond their own ship, this made the fight more interesting and it certainly lasted longer.  Kudos to Abysus and Jasper for that.

Great post! +1

I also encourage all FC's to come up with a basic plan (for those who haven't) next time. Kitchen sink is fun, but a planned fleet composition makes it even more interesting for everyone in the fleet.

Apologies to the pilots who lost ships after the sudden death in round 3. Between managing my cap, local reps, cap boosters, neuts, target calling & Jasper's MJD, my brain didn't process the referee saying we could only target the mothership.. Information overload.

I've reimbursed those losses.

Thanks Nikolai for this event, I heard only positive comments on Mumble.

Now I'm hoping Ophelia returns soon so we can have another look at the RvB/EUNI tournament!

#156888 RvB Roadshow #1

Posted by Abysus on 24 November 2015 - 10:10 PM

Aghh! Mission creep! I really wanted to keep this simple. Two Bowheads, two fleets, free frigates. I have a bunch of cheap fits but I can't figure out how to get them from EVE or EFT to here in a readable format (other than hand transcribing). Anyone know an easy way? If anyone wants to donate fitted ships I certainly won't be picky.

Not in game currently, but from EFT:

Open the ship setup.

Click the arrow next to the ship icon (the same icon you click when you create a new setup)

Copy to clipboard

Paste wherever you want

I'll donate around 250 fitted ships soon. Where shall I contract the ships? Jita 4-4 ?

And AB or MWD fit?

#156672 absent for a few weeks

Posted by Abysus on 11 November 2015 - 01:07 PM

Not sure where else to post this:

10 days ago my bicycle got primaried by a small truck, as a result I had to spend some days in the hospital.
I'm doing better now, but I won't be able to use my good hand for a few weeks and my back hurts when I sit down too long, so no pvp for me for a while.

I'll still catch up on the forums, and log in from time to time to chat for a bit.

Keep the explosions going guys!

#156130 RvB Ceases Formal Operations

Posted by Abysus on 24 October 2015 - 11:59 PM

Extremely sad as well.

Huge thanks to our chairman, CEO's, VP's, directors, everyone working behind the scenes and all other command members for your efforts. Without RvB I would already have stopped playing EVE.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to fly with all of you (or shoot at you), my loss for sure.
