I understand that that command want to leave but why didn't they just say that and build a forum to discuss possible replacements and direction of RvB. (BTW this still can happen) From comms it seems that lots of guys want to keep going.
We understand that reading the detail in the communications we have provided is hard ... but as it clearly states, you may continue to pew pew each other and the corp's will remain open.
If leaders step up and begin to rally the troops, numbers start to grow and some emerge as competent leaders we will (as has been stated) revisit providing them with roles as needed.
The fallacy everyone seems to have bought into is that to do this you need roles. FC's in RvB have ever been the ruling order with us in command only making up the brunt of those efforts while continuing to deal with the, primarily, financial logistics in the background and, from time to time, enforcing rules by kicking/banning someone.
...which typically gets met with some number of people lamenting us for letting "the best guy ever in Eve" go because of an infraction.
Thus, you now have the best of all worlds. The ability to govern yourselves, to "elect" leaders and continue operations under your own rule as opposed to us "oppressors" who have governed RvB action thus far.
We find it vastly humorous that anyone thinks that roles are necessary to take an active part in corporation activity in Eve, which is (by design) only loosely organized into what we call "corporations".
I will go back to my first entry into RvB where I began NoobFleet and did, for quite a while, everything associated with that "section" of the corporation. I organized activities, I funded support, I made the calls. I asked Del Del permission from time to time which he always said "go for it, do what you like". Everyone loved it and for a number of years it thrived due to nightly interaction on my part where I spent about 95% of my time in game training new players to PVP. Everyone seemed to like the concept and as I was handed other roles in RvB (sometimes via roles, but mostly via appoitment) I spent less and less time doing NoobFleet. I tried over and over again to get others to help with what we all felt was a core activity within RvB. People came and went, but for the most part went and rarely spent as much time as I did working with players.
So what happened? Did leadership stop supporting it, No. Did membership stop supporting it, No. Did we stop funding ships and skills, No. Did changing the name to Miramar help, No. Did it continue to thrive, No.
Why, because talk, talk, talk never equates to action. Thus, I got too busy to do it and it continued to fade into obscurity.
As we have said, action speaks louder that idle words. Especially from those who are now voicing the halcyon call to arms to fight the good fight, to keep RvB alive.
Where were you the last year?
When have you last FC'ed?
When have you last helped a new player?
There are some. A very small some, who have done this and continued to do this to burn out. There are a few of you who were coming along nicely as good and active FC's. To you I tip my hat and say thanks for the time you were putting in against formidable odds.
Thus, I will say it again, and for the last time - go, make RvB your own. Show that you can lead, because rarely does a title ever make anyone a true leader. RvB is in your control, more now than ever, it just will require a bit of consensus building which is the sign of a true leader.
The title is perfectly expressive of what we are in the process of doing.
As Del Del noted, we have tried to get members to step up from the beginning and repetitively been met with lackluster response. The 80/20 rule applies but here is more like the 95/5 rule. Thus, were are where we are.
Those willing, as stated, may feel free to step up, gain consensus and continue operations ... organically.
CEO roles will be retained by a holding officer and are not needed to continue play. Application management roles have been given to two current command members. Thus, the leadership required to keep corporate management matters handled is in place.
As in the past, no one who has not shown the ability to lead and proven their willingness to take the time to do so were given formal roles. Thus, those with the willingness simply took a lead role and made a reputation for being the go to for this role. Whether that was as FC or any other role.
Thus, all who desire to take lead and organically continue to lead and grow RvB are welcome to do so. If those who do so show a strong a favorable following over time we will assess their needs for roles.
After many years and numerous iterations, RvB will stop formal operations.
After much discussion among the principles within RvB it has been decided that we will cease formal operations. The corporations will remain and members can carry on with typical RvB style fighting as desired. However, leadership and programs will be suspended.
Declining numbers in Eve, in general, and an ever increasing workload on a small group of individuals lead us to making this very difficult decision. Our hat is off to those tireless members who made RvB what it was for so many years. RvB lead the way in Eve creating continual content through the Forever War, events where all of Eve was invited and reaching major milestones both individually and corporately for area based combat.
Many of Eve's core players either make or made a home in RvB, boasting arguably one of the largest player alt bases. RvB also contained one of the most active alt spy bases in Eve as well (we knew who most of you were..). RvB's unique style of quick PVP provided endless days of content for many of Eve's citizens.
RvB will sustain the current forums for the foreseeable future.
Members are encouraged to seek community in one of the other fine corporations in Eve, or may remain in Red Federation or Blue Republic. We will be leaving a command member to handle applications and if RvB begins to grow organically without formal command interaction and may be revisited at a later date.
It is with heavy hearts that we make this announcement and hope the best for all of our members.
We appreciate the small number of command members and others who have put heart and soul into RvB for so many years.
