#156290 RvB Ceases Formal Operations

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 26 October 2015 - 07:36 PM

Can't keep saying this so I'll try one last time. Actions speak louder than words! All I've seen so far is words with the exception of two people and those alone aren't going to sway us.

So many ideas about what other people should of do....

Standing by and doing absolutely nothing and then wondering why you weren't and aren't being considered to take over...lol. Why this path was chosen was due to the utter lack of leadership outside a very small (and shrinking) number of people, of which none had the ability to be active enough to pull it off with so little support.

If you think you can, start fresh or prove you aren't all talk, adding recruiters isn't an issue. If you can't lead people without roles then you really aren't leading anything.

#156118 RvB Ceases Formal Operations

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 24 October 2015 - 09:40 PM

RvB 2.0 - has it really been 6 years? We've come a long way since then. Podding was allowed, then discouraged and finally outright banned. What started as a simple place to skip the bullshit, undock - shoot - repeat, became that plus a whole wide world of other things, but throughout it all we stuck true to that as best we could.

When I got shoved head first into the Blue CEO position for the first time in 2010 I was graduating college and RvB was hovering around 5-10 people active in the US TZ (Delvechio, myself, Mathias, Tim Pest, Morphe Orlorin (red CEO) and a few others I sadly cannot name). We weren't sure it was going to make it much further than that point. RvB 1.0 hadn't lasted too long either. I bailed out to go backpack through Australia (while training Battleship 5's and Advanced Weapon Upgrades 5 hehe) and for the first time RvB truly unified as Delvechio took the reins of both corps. For those of you who don't know/can't remember, RvB was VERY MUCH Red versus Blue back then. We would actively scheme to one up each other in fights, hide cruisers in other systems and bring them in late, kicked off an arms race on actually rigging ships (fucking merlins!) and in general just simply adversarial. Delvechio changed that and over the next few years, through highs and lows and a metric shit tone of work, grew RvB. The purple spirit came into being, events started being held, free ships, all sorts of fun an exciting things came to be. Hell, we got someone elected to the CSM, a few times, captured an entire POCO empire, added a LP store to reward FC’s who over time became more and more critical to the content of RvB. Along the way we shifted more and more of the content driving onto fewer and fewer people and sadly many of us burned out and burned out hard.

It is that last part I want to focus on, over the years we’ve had some amazing command members and FC’s who selflessly gave themselves to drive content for the general membership, too many to name, too few to sustain indefinitely. Now we are where we are today, caught between catering to an increasing number of newbros while at the same time trying to keep the bitter vet, who truly defined RvB’s culture, entertained. Sadly those two things, we now know are mutually exclusive in our current environment. Once the summer doldrums hit we dropped to an activity level I hadn’t seen since 2010 when I reluctantly woke up to have the title of CEO dropped on my lap the first time. Unfortunately, with Eve’s activity in general on the decline, combined with the straddling strategy of keeping the two camps happy, we just couldn’t recover in the early fall. Sadly many of you will never know how much work really goes into providing all the services and content that you so enjoy. I look back at the last two months and 80% of my game time has been spent doing admin work, and it is similar across the board for the core of command. That right there sums up RvB Command members throughout the years. Selflessly working behind the scenes to maximize the fun for the other 99% of the organization.

It is that tremendous mountain of work that would need to be scaled again that forces us to make the hard decision that every predecessor has toiled with over the years, shut it down or keep on plugging away. With so few people left in command and even fewer really working hard. It is with a heavy heart that I must say we have decided to shut formal RvB operations down, it wasn’t easy, believe me. So much time and love has been poured into it over the years but there are so few of us left willing and capable of carrying that burden, and because of that, we must bring it to an end. There will be people who are going to scream and yell, but I have to ask, where have you been the past six months?

Thank you to every single person who has ever undocked and shot someone without having to be told, those who took it a step further and FC’ed your brothers and sisters into the grinder, the even fewer who volunteered to deal with the backend leadership and logistics shit that is oohh so much fun. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for providing an absolutely amazing gaming experience over the last 6 years, it was a fucking blast, even the low times were pretty damn good and it was because of every last person who became part of our community. I also want to thank Del Delvechio, we would have never made it this far without him and he has poured god knows how much time, isk and $$$ into this grand experiment. Thank you to Delucian, Jiny and all the others dumb enough to step up and run this shit show over the years.

I’ll still be out there flying around and I’d fly with just about every last one of you again so if you see me toss a wave and ask for a fleet invite. Otherwise, turn those hardeners on because all things must die in a fire!!!

#155326 Rooney Lad....

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 27 September 2015 - 11:12 AM

Apparently Rooney misunderstood the "Mad House" event and thought he was supposed qualify to get into one... 17 hours, 17 minutes and 22 seconds of continuous FC'ing! Not only that, but he managed to bridge the EU/US timezone gap with continuous action. FUCK YEAH!

Thank you Rooney and well done.

New Medals to be awarded for epicness beyond sanity:

The Cartman - Meet the FC LP criteria for 12 hours straight (continuous kills every 30 min, sufficient people in fleet on average)

The Guinness (17:17:22) - Current Record Holder for longest FC session.

#153878 August Kill Contest - Operation Overkill

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 11 August 2015 - 02:44 AM

Alright, summer is nearly over and it is time to crank up the kills and activity. Last month we had 8k kills, this bores me... I want to see 10k again. So here it is, Red + Blue is currently at 2,582 for the month. If we can break 10k combined kills... We'll do a BLT (Hull Reimbursed) low roam and I'll welp a dread into what it finds. That's it, plain and simple, get 10k kills!

Don't make me break out the stretch goals.

#152976 Kickoff Weekend

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 09 July 2015 - 04:35 AM

Scyleth's Mothership Event Details:

It is an objective based game with one side attacking while the other defends. Objectives are done in a linear fashion. The goal is to get the fastest possible completion time. If the time limit is met before the scenario is finished the time stamp of the last objective will be used as the teams final score. After a round has been completed the attackers and defenders switch sides.

There are many different scenarios that can be created within this type of event. The scenario I have come up with, mothership was inspired by the assault map of the same name.

  1. T1 frigs only
  2. No neutral alts
  3. No midslot ECM
  4. You must reship from your respective HQ
  5. Defenders are not allowed to use remote repair drones or modules
  6. Objective based ships are not allowed self repair modules
  7. Time limit of 30 minutes

Step 1 - Destroy the blockade

The event starts with the attackers docked in their HQ with the defenders outside. Defenders have a prophecy orbiting the HQ at 75km that is not allowed to divert course or warp away. When the prophecy is destroyed the objective is complete and the defenders are no longer allowed on the HQ grid.

Step 2 - Destroy the scan inhibitor ships

Attackers need to destroy three blackbirds at the planet of their HQ. The blackbirds will have ECM and can freely move anywhere within the 150km warp in of the planet. Objective is complete when all blackbirds have been destroyed. At completion defenders will need to undock their dominix and warp it to a safe that is near the Oisio/Oshaima gate.

Step 3 - Online encounter surveillance system

For the sake of in game mechanics and ISK a mobile depot will be used. Attackers must online a mobile depot at the planet to force the mothership to decloak. Dominix will have it's own mobile depot to combat refit and remove it's cloak when it's no longer needed.

Step 4 - Probe down the mothership

Using T1 frigates attackers must scan down the dominix in their HQ system. Team leaders will be required to bookmark the location for the corp.

Step 5 - Destroy the mothership

Attackers need to destroy the dominix to complete the scenario. The dominix is not allowed to warp away or fit a prop mod. Attackers are allowed to shoot the mobile depot.

A 20 minute break will be given before the roles/systems are reversed and another round starts.

#152975 Kickoff Weekend

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 09 July 2015 - 04:35 AM

So it was announced in the General Thread along with some idea requests, but to officially get your attention here it is:

This weekend, July 11th and 12th, we will be doing our official housewarming party. Below is the list of events thus far and in following posts the details of each will be listed, many of these are reimbursement type events so you need your ships set up BEFORE the event. Also, throughout the weekend Command will be tossing around LP, ships and Isk like its going out of style, go out there and tackle the shit out of something and kill it. The below events are the proper scheduled ones, throughout the weekend there will be random roams and reimbursement fights for the pure hell of it so log in, pew, and hang around for the fun because it could be happening at any moment!

If anyone else wants to do something specific or host a roam during the weekend post up here, we'll do what we can to accommodate and put funds to it, or reach out to a director and up over this weekend to get the ball rolling!

So far, the actual scheduled happenings include but are not limited to:

Scyleth's Mothership Event - Saturday 18:30 Eve

Shen's Infected Event - Saturday 22:00 (if the prior event runs long we'll postpone until completion)

Xantcha's Drunken Aussie Roam - Sunday July 12th - 08:00 Eve

Delucian's Pain Train - Sunday July 12th 20:00 Eve

#152861 Poke The Bear - July Kill Contest

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 04 July 2015 - 06:02 AM

Alright, so our wonderful neighbors happen to be some rather interesting Russians... To properly kick off we need to say hello to our neighbors (feel free to Mr. Rogers meme the shit out of this and them!)

The rules are simple, throughout the month post your kills right here in this thread, at the end of the month I will make a new thread which everyone is welcome to submit ONE entry per category (think of it like a trophy hunt). For non-solo categories the prize will be split among the RvB members on the kill (you can share with non RvB members if you want).

The Russians we're targeting are our neighbors over in Hysera. Edit-There are more corps than I care to try to list. As a result the kills must be in our neighboring/local systems so anywhere in our systems, the Cal/Gal warzone or Black Rise.

1) Most Expensive Kill - Ship + Pod (Optional) - 500m
2) Most Expensive Solo Kill - Ship + Pod (Optional) - 500m
3) Most Hilarious Kill - Ship + Pod (Optional) - 500m (Shen's subjective opinion)
4) Community Choice - 500m
5) Best Video - 500m

#152523 Shout Out to the Late Night US TZ Crew

Posted by Shenanigansbus on 20 June 2015 - 08:30 PM

The past week we've seen what seems to have been an endless stream of excellent fights, hilarious deaths and zero tear shiney explosions. Mad props to everyone involved, Red and Blue, old and new alike. The fights have escalated into BC's and BS's a handful of times and whenever one side ships up too far they're quick to drop back down to something the other side can manage without any prompting. It has been about the fights and I doubt many, if any, have been disappointed. Thank you for keeping it awesome! I'd list names but I don't want to leave anyone out, you know who you are and you rock!
