#115249 1 vs 1 Fight Club

Posted by Mr Veda on 18 February 2014 - 09:42 AM

The first rule of fight club is tell everyone about fight club!
Use the in game channel R-V-B Solo

So here's my simple plan to help get some 1 vs 1 going.
1. Add your name to this thread
2. Add everyone's name to a watch list
3. Message people when they're online, find a quite spot and 1vs1!

Now of course, people will probably try use this to bait but hey, it's EVE after all (D scan is your friend)
So lets get the ball rolling

#88055 Setting up a beginner's group

Posted by Mr Veda on 27 June 2013 - 11:32 AM

So just to confirm now, I won't be maintaining this group any more.

Mainly due to lack of time on my part and a dwindling interest in EvE. Also, I found there wasn't many people looking for this sort of thing.

I'm still subbed and I'll be jumping online when time permits. Maybe just doing something spontaneous might be better than trying to organise a group.

Special thanks to my hero The Lobster, Kelsar Hemah and Cloudwolfe for their help and advice and for the new players who joined us for those few times.

Posted by Mr Veda on 13 June 2013 - 09:00 AM

Just a reminder that we're going to try and get a beginners group together tonight

around 10pm UK time!

Plan again is some fitting help if needed, duels and maybe a roam. we'll probably fit cheap frigs for this

Please message me here or in game if you're coming. I have frigs and isk for all!!

#80501 Setting up a beginner's group

It appeals to the RPer in me too, and it may provide an incentive for people to go explode some things. I'm not opposed to losing some ships in fun. I'm also trying to think of a way to provide a reward for the activity, although part of me says screw the reward, do it for the fun and camaraderie.

We should talk more. I'll figure something out but we should try and do this :)

#78763 Out of EvE

Posted by Mr Veda on 23 April 2013 - 02:44 PM

So like me, you’re getting into EvE but you might not have the time to play thanks to obstacles like “work” and a “wife”

Here’s how I get my daily dose of EvE. Maybe others could add to this as well

Blogs:
I’m a big blog fan. With the imminent death of Google Reader, i’ve moved to Feedly for my blogging needs. What ever RSS feeder you use, subscribe to http://blogpack.evebloggers.com/ This subscribes you to 30 EvE blogs! It’s maintained by Marc Scaurus (http://scaurus.com/) from here, I subbed to the ones I liked. Also, forum posts from the official EvE forums can also be followed via RSS.

Podcasts:
For the drive/commute/walk/fly/warp to work. There’s a ton of good podcast software with AttendaPod my choice on the android. Like the blog pack, there’s a podcast pack as well on http://feeds.feedbur...veonlinepodpack courtesy of Voices from the Void. Have a listen and note the ones you like, especially the awesome High Drag :)

Twitter:
Firstly have a look at http://wiki.eveonlin...en/wiki/Twitter These are some simple guidelines but it reveals the best thing about twitter and EvE for me, #Tweetfleet. I use clients that support multiple columns like tweetdeck or hootsuite with columns for #Tweetfleet, #RvBEvE and #EvEFanfest. You can use #Tweetfleet to decide who else you want to follow as well.

Apps:
Apps can do a variety of tasks including checking on your skill queue, mail and market orders. I use Aura for Android and Neocom for iPad. On the web, i’m using o.smium.org for ship fitting. Being a Mac user, I can't use EFT :(

Lore:
I love getting into the lore of any game I play. I started with an excellent guide at http://evetravel.fil...-v-1-3-pics.pdf From here, it should be a little easier to follow the EvE news articles and get an idea of whats going on

As for this forum, I use Tapatalk to follow it. This keeps me logged in and quickly shows me posts I’ve participated in.

Some other fun links are the CCP soundcloud page that has the EvE theme music for various expansions and a podcast related to Dust514 https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames

Sorry if this is old or obvious news. Just sharing what helps me. Feel free to add any other important out of EvE info that helps you

Never mind. The link worked perfectly And you get a TON of eve podcast to start listening too. Hopefully, this should make the drive to work a bit more tolerable! Veda

#75456 Thank you to The Lobsters

Posted by Mr Veda on 02 April 2013 - 10:38 AM

Just a quick thank you to The Lobsters for teaching me about velocity and angular velocity

It's nice to see people who are prepared to help a new player out with mechanics and fitting advice

Posted by Mr Veda on 28 March 2013 - 01:04 PM

Hello all

So somehow or another, I've ended up in the fine company of you all  :)

Long time gamer here. I've done my time in WoW, COH, Warhammer, HON and SC2 and I went looking for a PvP MMO so here I am.

Really enjoying the community here so far and especially the RvB guys

Hoping to learn more and find the game I've been looking for
