On the weekend of October 25th and 26th, RvB will be holding a tournament as part of our 5th Birthday celebrations.

As with the RvB Spring Cup held earlier this year (Videos are here & here), this tournament will focus on 5 man teams, flying no ships larger than battle-cruisers.

A tournament that will play to the strengths of RvB and is entertaining to all of you, and all of the people who will watch this amazing event live on twitch.

The victors - and there will be many - will take home a share of around 35 BILLION ISK in prizes including ISK, Ships and in game medals.

The details:
The tournament will be a double elimination format much like the NEO II & the SCL. This means that to get knocked out a team needs to lose two matches in the early stages rather than one, and makes for a more interesting format indeed. And like those tournaments will use a points system as detailed below.
The tournament will be managed by me using challonge.com.
The finals will feature a best of 3 matches with the involved teams alternating bans.

You can x up as either a pilot or a team captain in this thread. The deadline for sign ups is 20.00 UTC September 29th 2014.  Following this I will assign pilots to a team, no later than 6th October. Once this is done, teams have the remaining time to practice for the real thing.
Those who have signed up as Captains elsewhere need not x-up again.

Yes, you have to be in RvB to take part.

Location:
Will be held on TQ. Will be held in an as yet unannounced system.
We will use arenas that I will setup. Spectators will be allowed, however they will have to show up in shuttles, so as not to clutter the overviews of the participants.

Streams:
Commentators to include Sir Squeebles, Mizhir, Dracoth Simertet and Thecla Elarik
Streams to be run by Tyrendian Biohazard, and other additional parties.
Show to be hosted by Mangala Solaris

Prizes:

First Place Team:

1 BILLION ISK per pilot

1 Pirate BS per pilot (of pilots choice)

In game medal

Second Place Team:

750 Million ISK per pilot

1 Navy BS per pilot (of pilots choice)

In game medal

Third Place Team:

500 Million ISK per pilot

1 Pirate Cruiser per pilot (of pilots choice)

Team of the Day: Day Two (Voted by the spectators using strawpoll)

Bottom of the barrel (Team that is knocked out with least points earned overall):

I never signed up and all I got was this lousy (First RvB pilot grabbed on the day to fly in matches. get one (my choice) of the following)

Fed Navy Comet

Imperial Navy Slicer

Apocalypto (Pilot with highest damage across the Tournament)

Apocalypse Navy Issue

Thanks to FU2 we have the following Prizes:

I am Number Four (Team placing 4th gets a bonus)

200m ISK per pilot

T2 or Pirate frig of choice

Fury (Pilot who TANKs the most - geddit)

Thanks to Sambo Inkura we have the following Prize:

Shut Up Mangala (Awarded as a spot prize by me during the weekend and I get to talk it up on Stream)

T2 Fitted Caracal

Participation medals for all pilots who fly in the tournament will also be awarded.

I am open to further donations from anyone who wants their name in lights or just wants to help make this the biggest internal RvB event of 2014.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) Who pays for the ships?

That is up to the teams. Some teams fund their own items, others the Captain opens their wallet.

RvB has enough industry guys that you may be able to find someone willing to provide hulls and modules at cheaper prices.

2) Can I x-up, leave RvB, then rejoin in time for the event?

Yes you can. Just do not let your team mates down.  Please keep in touch with them and me if you do this.  You go dark, I will prevent you from returning to RvB ever.

3) Can I x-up even if I cannot commit 100% yet?

Yes. Just let me know in your x-up post.

4) Why is this in X timezone not Y timezone?

You never organised it, thats why!

5) Why only 2 of most ships allowed?

Last go round - and indeed in other tournaments - certain ships soon became the "go to" meta.  Limiting ships in this way, should allow for greater variety across the teams, and give newer pilots to those teams more of a role to play, if they have somehow avoided training FOTM ships.

6) Why so little PLEX in prizes.

I am a dumb shit who forgets that he hasnt paid them out, then moves PLEX to alts and forgets he did that, then assume's he just paid them as prizes. So this year, few PLEX as possible in the prize pool.

7) I am brand new to RvB/PvP/EVE, I want to sign up but am afraid I will be a detriment to my team.

As organiser of this event, I assign pilots to teams using an initial random seed, following which I then tweak teams so they are pretty well balanced. Teams usually end up with a good mix of vets and newer folks, this makes for a much more interesting series of fights.

8) I have no none-Pirate Clones.

Get one. No way do you have 10 pirate clones. Take advantage of the services RvB offers for creating jump clones.

9) EVEBoard?

EVEBoard is a service run by Chribba.

You put in your API and tell it you want to display your character info and implants, then on the Tournament weekend you simple provide a link to your eveboard profile to the Tournament staff for them to check you have no illegal implants in Slots 1-5.

10) How can you check fittings?

A commentator will join your fleet prior to you warping to the arena, you all link your fits and they confirm it to me that the teams are legal. Or we get a ship scanning alt involved but :effort:.

11) I have points/rules/fittings suggestions?

TOO LATE JACK! This tournament has been in the making for 6 weeks already, that was plenty of time to throw in your 2p. Just deal with it. Or run your own. Dare you!

12) Do Captains pick their own team names?

Yes.  If you are a Captain PM/Mail me your Team Name.

13) I have killrights on me. Will I be safe?

Fuck no. Get them cleared. Ask in RvB Community for someone to activate your killrights while you sit in a newbship.

Remember to dock your pod and go afk for the 15 minutes of the suspect timer.

Schedule in in my op, but as I like you

16.00 EVE for first match on first day, 17.00 on second day.

Both days have a pregame show before then of course.

As with last time I can move teams around if time is an issue at that point and you are unlucky enough to get drawn to play then. (Day one only)

Give a man some fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I am moving flats first week of October though, hopefully it won't be an issue but if it takes forever to get an internet connection set-up in my new flat then I may have to drop out as it would impact my availability to practice and I don't want to have a negative impact on team performance.
