I am interrupting our current weekend theme schedule to bring you a limited edition theme:

CANCELLED FOR NOW

Yes you read that right.  For one weekend only, all RvB rules are off in The Forge. Basically Reds can treat Blues like "proper" war targets and vice versa.

  • Podding: OK!
  • ECM: OK!
  • Shooting in Jita: OK!
  • Neutral Boosting: OK!

Why only The Forge I hear many ask?

Because I understand that not everyone wants to take part in a weekend like this, and extending them an olive branch wrapped in a map of EVE is a good thing yes? And seriously if any objectors to this theme do not take advantage of The Forge ending at minimum 2 jumps from "core" RvB space, then they only have themselves to blame.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PILOTS USE KORAMA / ISSERAS AS ALTERNATE RvB FIGHTING GROUNDS FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO GET A REGULAR RvB FIX OUTSIDE THE FORGE.

Wait. I can be podded?

Yes, podding is on the agenda.  If you need a "clean" clone, please make use of the RvB Jump Clone service. You have around a week to use it and be prepared for the coming chaos. If you do not take advantage of this service, you only have yourself to cry to if you become an expensive podmail. Remember, after you have been podded UPGRADE YOUR CLONE.

Can I be podded/shot at by my own side?

No.  There is NO Free For All, Red on Red, Blue on Blue aspect for this theme weekend.  If you do pod someone from your own corp or explode their ship, you better be prepared to pay up or be removed from RvB permanently. (Breaking the spirit of our eternal war is verboten)

Why no Free For All, Red on Red, Blue on Blue aspect?

Because.
Seriously, this theme is meant to show why the rules we have in the mutual war exist. In a regular war you don't shoot ALL the things, so why do so here?!
Additionally I would like to compare activity levels during this theme against regular RvB weekends & other none FFA themes. So deal with it.

Mangala, why are you doing this?

Well the CEO group actually said last summer WE WILL DO THIS, as is their right as our SUPREME OVERLORDS, I just made sure it will happen is all. Hence this weekend theme being slipped into the rotation once in a very rare while. Additionally, its a great way to destress any tensions found in RvB, and I know you Euro's have them for sure. Finally think of it as a reward for your steadfast support of RvB by continuing to kill each other day in day out.

Is this aimed at teaching people to get their pods out?

Not really, although some people will be framing advice in such a way, its just a bit of fun. If people learn something then thats a bonus that I had not forseen.

Wont it cause Drama?

Command gets a weekend off. We dont care about most drama during this weekend.  However if any member feels particularly aggrieved during the weekend, then they should use the Mediation Room to put their issues across. Using any other medium will see you out and out ignored.

Has this been discussed anywhere I may have missed?

Short of it is yes it has.  This event stems from a comment by Tragot Gomndor during a drama thread over on our democratic discussion forums, which lead to me creating a poll (so very democratic of me) asking about it as part of what is one of the more polite and less tear filled forum threads we have going. In fact if you have any concerns voice them in that thread here.

I am actively contemplating cancelling this weekend.

Generally I am of the opinion it should be a reward for being an active and involved community, right now I am concerned that this weekend is at the wrong time for the active part to be worth rewarding (finals, holidays, end of school etc)

And it is being cancelled.

As I say above, it works best when activity is highest, people are involved in pushing for it to happen beyond one or two guys on this forum and then of course concern from the Spring Cup captains that it comes at the wrong time which is very much understandable.

So, rather than get us half way thru the weekend, and decide to cancel, or last minute this on Friday, lets just put it on hold now until such time as hundreds of you rabble for it on these forums.

Roles up plans and puts in the old cardboard box to put on the dusty shelf. The affect this must be having on rose just now! Bet she had a new station container purchased for all those new corpses!!

This weekend would have been bad with nobody there to murder, so I approve of this. @nitro: You know you can fit a metric crapton of corpses into those? About 1 million for a normal Station Container.

"The caspuleer in his spaceship can focus only on the present instant of his flight; he is caught in a fragment of time cut off from both the past and the future; he is wrenched from the continuity of time . . . in other words, he is in a state of ecstasy; in that state he is unaware of his age, his wife, his children, his worries, and so he has no fear, because the source of fear is in the future, and a capsuleer freed of the future has nothing to fear.''

Hate to say it but I think it would have worked out a little better if the theme was set in the alternate RvB areas that was listed for those that wanted to continue with regular RvB life. The goal of a theme shouldn't be to scare new players off and unfortunately this  theme could. I personally was looking forwards to it also but I understand why it was cancelled and maybe it was for the best. Just some food for thought but would it be a bad idea to set more of the themes in the KORAMA / ISSERAS area. I know RvB leadership deserves a break so I can imagine how you all are feeling :( But hey keep your heads up you have an increasingly big family that will gladly step in and help sort out problems on the field. Thanks Mang, Del ,Fallen, Delucian, and all you great Team Leaders we are fortunate to have you for making RvB what it is today.

Think it's a shame personally, then again if most people in run of the mill RvB don't want to get podded and want the saftey of no podding so they can run around in snakes. slaves then fine. It is after all a community.
