Buy mic.
Use mic when fc in fleet is dead to target call in their stead.
Eventually when confident form own gangs, dont need to be blobs, and get out and about. Some day to day fcing in RvB is calling and warping folks around and yelling at bads who bring the wrong ship.
Do this lots.
Learn to kick back seat drivers from gangs.
As you feel more confident expand fleet sizes or shiptypes.

Thanks Mang, would you say alcohol is RvB's magic ingredient for FCing?

But seriously just step up when FC is dead? That isn't going to happen in RvB with our new don't kill the FC rule :(
Will have to try and be more oppurtunistic obviously!

Edit: Guess the worst thing is messing up and getting everyony killed in fiery explosions, I think I need to start answering "I will" when people ask if anyone else wants to FC

Not a rule, just something FC's are (mostly) agreeing on.

Practice for it anyway.

And also ask your FC if you can target call a fight, if they wont die ;)

Will give this a go and maybe will be able to FC my way to world domination?!

Part of FCing in RvB is knowing certain 'common knowledge' as well though? Like who has a set of slaves in a bait maller!

Just chat to one of the regular FC's. They can be in fleet and support you if you need anything. I literally GUARENTEE that they will be more than happy to let you take over :).

Have a test run with an experienced FC supporting you.

I am a very basic FC for red - and most of the work is just like herding cats really.

Next time i'm FC'ing for Blue i'll see if you are in fleet and you can have a go.

Having a go and learning by your mistakes is the only way really. RvB is very open and forgiving to new FC's in my experience.

The ten man ffa weekend is a good start. Just roll around with a gang for lols and remember that winning is fun but explosions trump all.

Everyone in your fleet killed? Job done!

One thing that you don't have to worry in RvB is to get everybody killed bro.

We are here to die in a fire, Everyone knows that, and if they don't know and try to give you any kind of hard time tell them that your hangar is empty of fucks to give.

Fun comes from flying, not ship spinning, if you help me fly around, I'll follow you to death with pleasure.

PS. All this death talk is kind of wrong, I agree with Steffen Fry, words have a deep meaning that we don't realise.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone has been saying.
Get an experienced FC to "coach" you in a fleet, ask to take over the fleet but ask the FC to give you pointers/tell you what you need to do or what you did wrong ect.
Also dont be worried about whelping the fleet, if anybody whines about losing their ship, do one of two things, a) kick them from fleet, becasue its your fleet you have the right and power to kick assholes from it or b. offer then to FC the next fight instead of you. I can guarantee that they will STFU after that :)

Most importantly though is to just get out there and do it, best way to learn really.

Ive only flown in a couple of fleets and a couple of the thing that I noticed with each FC was that they had a couple of bookmarks in each system (2 or 3),they announced who the other fc was, they told everyone how to sort their overview, and asked for volunteers....

We drank, we died, we reshipped, some of us died again...all in all it was good times!

This! 'nuff said!
Anybody whining about losing ships, well, this is RvB. This is gunland...
If you are willing to FC and get me some good fights, I fly and die with you anytime...

When I used to FC (was a while) I would just tell the fleet to check if they insured their ships since everyone would die. I also used to welp fleets quite often and no one ever complained on comms.

I say just get out and do it, most of the regular FC's will hand you down their fleet in a heart beat. If you are worried about the nerves and or shakes have a shot or two to relax :P

I do have a proper advice, now thinking of it:

Speak in a loud and clear voice, that solves most of the problems.

Unless you are from Scothland, if you are, just broadcast everything.

So much truth... Most people don't understand grunting as a language (please don't kill me)

@Vision Thing Achasse I am in red just I was lazy in posting to get my forum access changed so if you fancy that I am up for it!

@Mink When is it? I missed the last one as I was busy

And yeah in general I think the general consensus is to go die in a fire until I learn stuff though preferably with a more exp fc to tell me why my ship no longer exists :)

Thanks a lot for all suggestions and hopefully will be your FC a few times in the future! *cough* not a blue spai  *cough*

Siuil, Last Sunday I FC'd for the first time....we all died trying to defend the station. The last thing everyone heard as we were dying was reship, reship, reship....oh...wait I'm the only one left, then I died....lt was fun, and no-one complained. ;)

If diving in feet first with an entire fleet to command is not your style, then ask a current FC to give you a squad. You can tell the FC that you will take care of the little targets, rifters, etc. When the whole fleet enters an engagement, you switch your squads coms from fleet to squad, then call targets to your hearts content.
