Solo Frustration Shortcut

I learned this early on in my solo career. I you want a shortcut to getting frustrated being blobbed when you decide to go out solo, you can right click your ship and under the menu there, you can "self-distruct".

If you do that as soon as you undock, it avoids a lot of blob based frustration. :)

Market Quickbar + Fittings

Tonight I discovered that you can drag a fitting into the market quick bar and it shows you drop down folders of all of the mods you need for that fitting on the market. Best. Thing. Ever
Every day is a school day!

Market Quickbar + Fittings

^This, and......

Once you have dragged your fitting into the Quickbar, open the folder to view the modules added. You can right click on any module to 'add additional text'.

You could use this to enter the number of modules that particular fitting requires.

Eg:

Folder name: Fleet Puni > High Power > 125mm Gat AC II (x3) - additional txt edit

D-Scan

While trying to narrow down that off-grid ship I've found that if you bring up your tactical overlay you can zoom it so the range rings roughly match the different D-Scan angles. Every person's monitor will be slightly different so you'll need to find you own zoom range. It makes it SO much easier as you drop down from 45 degress to 30 degrees to 15 degrees and so on. It's a bit of a bodge but it works a treat once you find your setting

Quick Point
Ooo ooo here's another. As you may know you can pre-cycle your modules by clicking them and then once you lock your target the module starts working on them immediately. So, if you precycle your point you can achieve a scram on someone that little bit quicker. However, this method kinda sucks because it means you can't click on anything else and as soon as you do you have to go through the whole rigmarole of precycling again.

A good work around, is to cycle your point, then click on a planet - as far as I can see this only works with planets, not moons or anything else. And also MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE DOING IN ON A PLANET. Things will go horribly for you in you click the gate or a station. By cycling your point on a planet the module will perma-run like it would using the other method, but you are able to click away and do other things at the same time. All you need to do is Ctrl-Click the enemy ship as they jump into your camp and you should acheive point that little bit faster. Then explosions.

This is probably not a deliberate game mechanic, and really fucks up the tides on the planet but its totally worth it!

Why have no one told me you can shift-click the modules to overheat?
This just made things so much easier!

You can? Nice, I always tried to click that slim green line above the icon.

HOT KEYS

You can pre-define hot keys to active all modules and activate/de-activate overload on both high, meduim and low power slots:

Press escape > Shortcuts > Modules

Other hot key tabs include Combat (navigation) and drone commands which I also find useful.

btw... been using drone shortcuts for a while to pull them in and make them attack. Yet i didnt find an option to launch a certain group of drones. Is that somehow possible ?

Hot key drone aggro and return means I lose a lot fewer drones. I use the G key (go) and the R key (recall) and as soon as my drone/drones start taking damage I recall them. Then relaunch after my target has reacquired me.

Drone micromanagement is a must.

I go with ALT+A (attack) and ALT+I (In drone bay). Very nice to harrass attackers and have them to target your drones again and again. Just missing that launch option.

I just use "1" for attack, "2" for return+ orbit and "3" for HIDE IN THE MYRMIDON. Very useful.

I admit my selection of R and G are not necessarily the best from a locational situation - to each their own - I tend to need visual reminders :)

It would be nice, but there wouldn't be any way for your client to know which of your drones to deploy, unless it just sent out the top 5 in your list, like right clicking and "launch" does. It would be nice if you could assign hotkeys to drone group folders, but again, seems like it might be a lot of work to implement...

BTW, if you aren't using drone groups you are making your life harder. I usually put all of my drones into the following folders: DPS (hobs and hammerheads), ECM (ecm drones), FRIG (warriors - fast anti-frig drones), REPAIR, SENTRY, and a few others.

Another nice tip is to create a folder group called DAMAGED, and move armor and hull damaged drones in here if you have time during or between fights, so you don't relaunch damaged drones.

I admit my selection of R and G are not necessarily the best from a locational situation - to each their own - I tend to need visual reminders :)

I use "insert" for attack, "delete" for return and orbit, and "end" for return to bay. Although "home" would might make more sense for return to bay, but it's too late, my fingers have memorized the keys after too many years to change it now. ;)

Safer Corp Bookmarks

As Delucian pointed out in a recent evemail to noobfleet, consider all the corp bookmarks to be compromised.

You can quickly make your own by warping to the corp bookmarks at 100, burning away in a random direction (just not toward the original bookmark!), and then making a new personal bookmark that no one else will have. It's a quick and easy way to create a similar (but safer) collection for yourself.

Labeling bookmarks

It's useful to consider your own labeling system for bookmarks.

Consider pre-fixing bm names into relevent catagories:

Eg:

For a bm on the Jos gate 200 below and the to the left.....

G. Jos. 200 bl.
G. Poi. 250 tr. (and so on)

For regularly used BM's, you can always pre-fix the bm name with a '*' or '#' which will push that BM to the top of list when right clicking.

You may also choose to create folders to help organise heavily BM'd systems.

Finally, you may consider using an alt to create your BM as these can actually be traded back to your main, in station :)

The Uni has a fairly comprehensive BM guide: http://wiki.eveunive...y.org/Bookmarks

I like using a full on speed fit Vigil for making bookmarks, recon and scouting.

Here is one of the fits I use - the 125's and warrior is mainly for drones.
