Essentially this topic is to post things that you've only just discovered (no matter how noobish it may seem).

Thinking behind this is that if it's confused one person, it's probably affected quite a few more.

After a month or so I'll form some sort of post using whatever stuff you guys put down, that can be used to help the new members :). Please try to include the hows/whys in your posts.

Nothing is off limits, gun mechanics, navigation things, ship capabilities, the ability to reload etc etc.

I will also be giving out 10 t1 frigs of your choice to anyone that teaches me something with their post. (not limited to one per person, I reserve the option to refuse this at any time (ie advanced things such as grid fu :) )).

Falloff

I'll start:

I did not know until recently that you do FULL damage all the way up to your guns optimal, and that it is the tracking at close range that reduces it. I had always assumed that dead on your optimal was what you needed for max dps, and that anything less would have the same reductions as falloff causes when past it.

It made lasers much much better in my eyes :).

Chat Window
You can compress the view of the people in local so that you can even see all of them without scrolling if you make the local chat big enough vertically.
Well, unless you're in Jita.

Signature Resolution

Signature resolution is just a modifier applied to tracking speed, so at zero transversal you will even hit a shuttle with BS sized guns.

Tactical Overlay

Hovering over your mods with the tactical map/view(?) open you get a nice circle showing you the range, that was new to me until a few months ago.

Warp-to Range

We all know you can set default values for keep-at-range and orbit distances. however, you can do so also for warp-to which might be useful if you make it a habit to just click any celestion/moon/planet in the overview and hammer the warp-to button when your ship is about to get down to get your pod out. Setting it to something like, say 57km might prevent you from landing at 0 with another hostile who just had the same idea and picked the same celestial. Unlikely, but well it can happen.

Expanding on this; this is exactly why it's important to ALWAYS stay moving, if your on a gate, orbit at 500 or so. If you in a fight and are being shot, get some transversal up.
So many people underestimate this, and take so much more damage because of it.

The opposite also applies, if you keep your transversal velocity low compared to the target you are attacking, you will deal much more damage. (unless your using small guns on battleships etc, then pretty much do what you want :) ).

Asset Repair (grouping)

You can repair ALL your assets in the station you are currently in:

1. get out of your current ship and into the pod
2. go to the repair screen
3. hit CTRL+A to select all your assets in the repair dialogue
4. click repair all

Still not able to verify the exact steps ingame, but this is about how it works. I might be a click off or two in this description though.

So much this! I just figured that out last week.

Also, this overlay really brings fleet fights into perspective. Especially if you are trying to keep on the edge of the fleet or providing sniper support.

MWD/Sig Radius

If you've been called primary and have a MWD, deactivate it. The reduced sig radius will help you tank the damage for longer (unless your using it to burn for range of course. Also not applicable to certain ships with bonuses to this, ie ceptors/AF's).

Myrm Passive Shield Fit

Despite the Myrm being an armor rep bonused ship, it can even tank more in a passive shield setup with the right fitting. Even it is dual rep fit.
Might not be THAT useful knowledge but I wanted to share anyway.

As this might get long and I think it is quite useful, I have added headings to each core point.

As you add something new, it would be a good idea to put a bold header in so that people can easily jump to that topic or hit on the ones they are interested in.

Well done guys!

This isn't something I just learned, but a lot of people seem to be unclear, according to a post I made a couple days ago.

Overheating

When overheating a rack, an empty slot works just as well at soaking heat as an offlined module does.

There is a setting which wil move the person who speaks last to the top of the channel. If you have that enabled when someone shouts warp to me just right click the topmost person in the flet channel and warp to him.

Also comes handy when someone is baiting and you forget to add him to the watch list.

What this will do is basically what the tooltip says. It will move the last person who speaks to the top of the channel list. So if you have Fleet channel split out like you should you can just rightclick on the topmost member and you get the fleet -> warp to member. This saves time when you don't have the person on the watchlist or are not familiar with who is speaking.

For some reason this is disabled by default.

Also for noobs and cheap bastards like me.

Module prices

When trying to fit a frig on the ultra-cheap. Check the meta level 1-3 prices before 0 since oftentimes they are cheaper and provide better performance.

Kodo:

Which setting is this/which list does it affect?
Edit in a title and the 'how to' of this setting please and I'll see about some free frigs, depending on which list it is :).
