#165951 18 Months + of game changes - Catch me up!

Posted by Rose Valora on 01 February 2018 - 08:54 AM

Got any Badgers concorded lately, Mang?

Anyways, to add to what these guys have already said:

When Nikolai said they "rebalanced" T3C's he means they gutted them except the Loki which is now the superior choice for almost all the things you'd use a T3C for. The Tengu is essentially a weaker Loki. The Proteus' only use is as a 1km blaster armorbrick for PIRAT gate/station games and the legion is "man I wish I was in a Loki right now". There's also a ton of minor tweaks to the game, like some T1 frigates and cruisers got a balance pass. Most got buffed (omen, bellicose, arbitrator, stabber), one got nerfed rather heavily (vexor) and then there's some up for debate like the rifter (it's still meh) which may all be relevant for a purple fleet. Omen is especially great now in my opinion for a roaming fleet.

Command destroyers are the only new ship type that've been added and they have a module that will microjump everyone nearby 100km in the direction they are facing (except scrammed targets and capital ships). Of course not usable in highsec because that would be too fun and we can't have any of that nonsense.

Alpha clones can fly all race's T1 battlecruiser and battleships now and have acces to all T2 weapons except large guns/missiles which are still restricted to T1 (as if it really matters). They have pretty decent support skills too. Yes they can fly machariels.

They doubled the fuel requirement for jumping (and cut the volume of isotopes in half, plus added more capacity for the fuel bay) which may slightly impact some specialized purple fleets.

CCP introduced some garbage "fleet PvE" content  that everyone already forgot about probably. Could have been great for purple fleets but they dropped the ball pretty hard there.

Not relevant to purple fleet but may be interesting to know: plex got split into 500 pieces (and you need 500 newplex for a month of gametime). This plus inflation makes it so that plexing your account currently costs something along the lines of 1.6 billion.

They added an extremely annoying chat bubble to the pilot list in your chat windows that immediately starts a conversation with the pilot when clicked upon. Nobody asked for it and everyone complained about it but they still put it in the game. Expect a lot of accidental conversations coming your way when they just want to take a look at your profile.

#161775 Just got started, but Farewell

First of all, he did 0% damage which likely means he just happened to be in the right place at the right time, then decided to whore on the kill with a cheap ship so he has some nice stats on his killboard. He was clearly not a part of the suicide gankers' main fleet. And if he was he is terrible at his job.

Regardless if he orchestrated the kill with the gankers, you cannot expect RvB to be aware of every member's actions, all the time. Especially if it happens this far outside RvB space.

RvB does not condone suicide ganking, I don't know where you got that idea.

Tl;dr: You're silly

#161757 EvE Moving to F2P... Why this could be great for the game and great for RvB

Have you considered contacting CCP via a support ticket and ask them to do a massive purge of all members that haven't logged into the game in 3 months?

It's a long shot but if you explain the situation and they agree, it could save you a boatload of time.

Heh that's great! I even read it in mang's voice, which made it even better :D  (especially the GODS NO)

We should appoint some corp diplomats to softly troll people like this full time  :P

It will barely increase its ehp anyway. It's a frail little thing, no way around that fact. Even when "tanked" it gets only ~5k ehp tops.

Instead capitalise on its strengths. I don't care how else you fit it but it really needs 3 damps, or at least 2 damps + disruptor and scram.

You can shut just about anything down with 3 overheated damps + orbiting at your enhanced scram range.

All of my assigned students died in mysterious circumstances or vanished into thin air only days after being assigned to me. Or maybe they just stopped playing Eve I suppose.

Now that I've had time to recover from this horrible tragedy I'm looking for more fresh souls to leech- I mean teach.

If you're interested just shoot me a mail*.

You have my vote, if only for the pursuit of a shrubbery storyline mission.

#142112 Elite: Dangerous

I bought it and played a few days.

It's a very good space simulator and has good mechanics, but there's hardly anything to do as of now.

Trading is straightforward, haul a certain item from a high supply station to a high demand station. Only challenge is finding a profitable route. After you find one, trading becomes essentially a docking simulator. In theory the supply/demand will change in the persistent universe if you do it enough times but either it doesn't work or the effect is negligible if just one player does it.

There's not much to exploration. Jump to an unexplored system, activate a scanner, point your nose at the stuff that popped up until everything is identified and later sell the data you collected. There's hazards like black holes and neutron stars you have to look out for but other than that it's not much of a challenge.

Collecting bounties of course, and the combat is pretty good with damaging subsystems and such. Killing an NPC's thrusters and seeing him spin out of control never gets old. Problem with bounties is the AI is pretty easy to predict so as of now not much challenge.

As for the mmo aspect I was hoping for, this is not an mmo. This is barely a multiplayer game. Only in the starter systems do you actually encounter players. Once you get a few jumps out it's a wasteland. I did traderuns through lawless space and not once did I come across another player. It's hard to PvP when you can't find anyone. And ganking newbs in the starter systems isn't exactly my idea of PvP...

TLDR: Fun for a while but severly lacking in content with a side of broken multiplayer.
