I, Galgon Triumverate, declare that I am "super excited" about the fated introduction of Command Bursts.

Long has it rankled Galgon's [mighty] heart that Command bonuses have been sequestered by the snivelling ranks of the so-called "off grid boosters".

Aye! And those mighty veterans of old will remember the legends told [admittedly by Galgon himself] of Galgon's destiny.

Mayhap some mortals also have an opinion on these auspicious tidings?

...and could it be possible that the Shining One would deign to hearken to such noise?

I think its 'harken' rather than hearken.

Just to play fair - I haven't Googled the word harken or the word pedant.

I have no idea what these Command Bursts do - beyond I presume, being sort of super logistics frigates.

[Out of character]

Both hearken and harken are acceptable according to the Oxford English Dictionary - although it IS listed under hearken (with harken as an alternative spelling).

[In character]

How Galgon chortles at the vapid jabberings of foolish mortals. Mayhap this Vision Thing will assume to instruct [mighty] Galgon on the location of his colossal e-Peen next?!

[Out of character]

Command Bursts will completely replace the current Gang Link system - changing boosting from a passive off grid activity to an active on grid activity directly integrated into fleet composition.

[In character]

Galgon is tired of attending to feebleminded drivel and requires the soothing embrace of Quaffe... attend ye to your own education young Vision Thing!

Command bursts are long overdue, I've only read an early proposal, not what they are going to implement, but I'm guessing it came up at Vegas?

Essentially you get a module which gives an x% boost for all ships inside y km of you for z time (even if they leave that range).

Means links are now combat pilots, or just prelocked by logi...

You can test them on Sisi right now - the conversion of Command Processors to rigs and the reduction of allowed links is meh, but understandable as tradeback for flexibility. I used them, was nice-ish. Should shake things up a bit. Oh, you also get a weapons timer. Both 1 min and 15 min. :D

Were the visual effects of being boosted that noticable?

This change is huge to the whole no neutral booster policy of RvB which is great. It will be very hard for people to use a neutral booster or even in corp but off grid one. The days of having to ban neutral boosters should be done!

although both spellings exist - your usage speaks to the older English variation - the more modern (American) spelling is Harken.

This surprises me as I would have wagered a few gold backed coins on it being the other way around.

'Jabberings' seems a word adrift in your reply - since my modest enquiry was not rapid, excitable or incomprehensible.

The mighty Vision will forgive the interlocutor on this occasion.

And Lo! Galgon accepts the kindly discourse of this Mighty Vision - for as one immortal to another doth he comport himself.

Galgon pledges the ecstatic waves of Command Bursts wheresoever this Vision Thing commends.

...and if Galgon has heard rumours that this Vision is not really immortal, and spends many hours wandering the decks of the departure lounge scouring his mind for where he left his Taipan after stumbling in from some fruitless, Quaffe soaked, expedition - he chooses to ignore them... despite how insistent are those rumours and how convincing is the security camera evidence!

MIRI!

Poor Galgon is astounded... first this Vision Thing shows his immortal might and trades fair words with [mighty] Galgon... then all three blessed Furies of RvB manifest before his [all-seeing] eyes!

Has Galgon ascended to the very Heavens?! Do any mortals remain to worship their Gods?!

With such peers beside him - for as such does he consider these blessed figures (except the Vision Thing about whom some doubts remain) - surely Galgon's Command Bursts will burst free and rain benevolently o'er all!

Do you guys know if the command boost effects everyone within its radius or only fleeted people? And is it able to be used in highsec? Or even close to objects?

Yes to hi sec. Yes to near objectives like stations... No only to fleeted people I think.

Correct... only affects fleet members... fine in Hi Sec... object proximity does not interfere; however does not affect pilots within POS forcefield or tethered.

Ah thats pretty cool. I guess once it hits TQ will you guys review being able to use boosts as commonplace? Also HUZZA! to neutral link scrubs being scrubbed. Cant exactly be discrete about boosting now eh ;) Cheers for the response!

The effects from the bursting ship are quite noticeable, and with practice you can even tell the various types apart. However, the bursting ship can leave grid (or the boosted ships can leave) and the boost will remain in effect for the duration of the cycle, which is generally a minute. So with good timing a bunch of boosted ships can appear on grid and you wouldn't be able to tell they were boosted. The best range for a burst is about 50 km so a boosting ship can also fly in, burst, and fly out. This is all very complicated so basically the changes are good for giant rich nullsec alliance that can afford a dozen command ships and bad for everyone else, just like everything CCP does. OTOH, they drastically lowered the requirements for using a T2 burst so you might also see fleets of the cheapest BC all fit with bursts. A stabbed nano-cane with a command processor rig might work quite well for the warp-in, warp-out tactic. Command destroyers will probably see a lot more use as boosters, too. You can barely fit 2 links on one now, so I imagine you can get 2 bursts on one as well. Fortunately you can't fit a MJFG and 2 links at the same time!

"The caspuleer in his spaceship can focus only on the present instant of his flight; he is caught in a fragment of time cut off from both the past and the future; he is wrenched from the continuity of time . . . in other words, he is in a state of ecstasy; in that state he is unaware of his age, his wife, his children, his worries, and so he has no fear, because the source of fear is in the future, and a capsuleer freed of the future has nothing to fear.''
